There is no better way to learn than by doing.  These young leaders will be taking young people on a range of outdoor activities including canoeing in the near future.  To ensure they have the skills to do the job, we took them on a journey in a higher risk environment than they will work in.  In doing so, developing their confidence and competence to safely introduce beginners to paddlesport, where fun, learning and exploration can be had.  The photos below is their story.
This session was the teams first time to try out Stand Up Paddleboards (SUPs).  Did they learn anything?  Did they have fun?  We will let the photos answer that.  Of course with me coaching them they had to have fun and learning LOL!!
The last few runs of the day caught on video; below.  This was the end of 6 days of fun, learning and confidence building.  My thanks to the Greenhill YMCA team for working with me so well to make this an enjoyable time for all.

Day 6 and the team returned to Shaw's Bridge to do some more rescues and have fun on the rapids.  Boat choice was up to the team, giving us a nice mix of canoes and kayaks.  Great to see how the group confidence has developed over the past 6 day.
